Why do I need car hire excess waiver insurance?
They say that a picture paints a thousand words so here is an example below showing you how our car hire excess insurance can save you hundreds if not thousands of pounds.
The example shown below is for a standard compact car rental, picking up at Venice airport, so its ideal for a two week holiday in the Lido de Jeslo/Venice area ( Point 1)
The key area of the booking we want to highlight is what's included and more importantly what's excluded in the booking. See above points 2 & 3.
For ease this has been blown up below to highlight what is and what is not covered.
Now the quote above shows that the basic online prices includes CDW and TW. (Points 4 & 5) Great this means that if your car is stolen (TW=Theft waiver) or its in an accident (CDW=Collision Damage Waiver) then you are fully covered.
Well the answer to that question is no! If you car is damaged the excess amount shown in brackets above means means you have to pay the first £792 of any claim (CDW - Point 4) and if the car is stolen (TW - Point 5) you have to pay the first £1,492 of any claim.
Now you can pay extra with the car hire supplier locally to reduce these excess amounts to zero but to do that would cost an extra £290.69 (Point 7) and if you wanted to include Personal accident insurance (which is included in our policy: Point 9) it would take the bill to £429.11.
Remember as well thats the cover for damage, loss and personal accident only!
*Note: Our cost with more cover: £32.06 for two weeks cover. The quote above is £429.11 - almost 15 times more expensive.
This is why you need it!!
